Students, faculty and staff volunteered at the St. Francis House in Sioux Falls as part of Southeast Technical College's Service to Community (STC) Days. The volunteers prepared nearly 500 Trunk or Treat giveaways for an upcoming event and packed about 50 sack lunches for working guests of the St. Francis House. The St. Francis is a local homeless shelter that welcomes individuals of all backgrounds. Its mission is: "Moving people from homelessness to hope."

Thirty-four students, faculty and staff members volunteered their time preparing and serving meals at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House in Sioux Falls. The effort was part of Southeast Technical College's Service to Community (STC) Days, that take place twice each year.

Students and employees from Southeast Technical College spent a few hours at Lunch is Served, a local non-profit organization that delivers sack lunches for working men and women attempting to break the chains of poverty and hunger with a full day manual labor, without the benefit of a noon meal.

Southeast Technical College has awarded 172 full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships to incoming students. The competitive scholarship covers a student's tuition, fees, books, uniforms, tools and supplies. Now in its 11th year, the scholarship program has set recipient records for four consecutive years. The following Southeast Technical College students were recognized on the President's List for academic achievement during the spring 2025 semester. To be named to the President's List, students must be seeking a degree and have a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Southeast Technical College students earned 10 metals at the 2025 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference. The competition was held April 10-11 at Mitchell Technical College.

Southeast Technical College students and staff took part in a record-breaking community service event as part of the Spring 2025 Service to Community (STC) Days. STC partnered with the Sioux Falls chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build 86 beds for children in the community. The volunteer event was the largest single-day event in STC history with 367 volunteers contributing more than 464 community service hours.

This past summer, Breanna Clark planted trees, helped run summer camp activities and formed life-long friendships by volunteering for AmeriCorps' NCCC Summer of Service Program. Since middle school, Clark has been interested in environmental causes such as access to the outdoors for everyone and preserving biodiversity. She plans to work in a career advancing environmental justice once she graduates from Southeast Technical College in spring 2025 with a degree in Digital Media Production.

Erika Beck, a Sports Turf Management and Horticulture student at Southeast Technical College, was selected to participate in the Women in Turf event at last summer's Little League Softball World Series.

Southeast Technical College students in Human Resource Management and Foundations of Business classes, along with faculty and staff, spent a combined 67 hours organizing and cleaning at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore facility. Over the course of two days, these volunteers helped the ReStore team rearrange and organize every department in the store. ReStore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center. The effort was a part of Service to Community (STC) Days, a twice-yearly initative to encourage engagement in the community by students and staff.

Six students from the Surgical Technology program at Southeast Technical College volunteered to assist the Sioux Falls Lions Club at the Howard Fall Festival. The students logged nearly 30 community service hours assisting with vision screenings as part of Southeast Tech's annual Service to Community (STC) Days.

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of healthcare commitment scholarships to Southeast Technical College students pursuing a nursing degree at the Huron Community Campus.

Sixteen Medical Assisting students took part in the annual Health Connect Fair in Sioux Falls. Students chose a topic for their booth and created information to interact with an estimated 600 participants. This marks the 5th year the Medical Assisting program has participated in the event.

An STC first! This spring, STC has published its first literary magazine. The magazine contains stories, photographs and art, created and edited by students!

Spring has sprung, which means the Southeast Tech annual plant sale is just around the corner. STC Horticulture students have planted, nurtured and grown plants that will be sold to the public April 24-25 on campus.
